Richmond Park, SW London. See London A-Z type maps. Two recommended routes:
1. Pedestrian section from the roundabout 200m in from Sheen Gate to Ham Gate via White Lodge.
2. Perimeter road.
1. Approx 3km
2. 12km
1. Good surface; a reasonable hill by the White Lodge.
2. Surface mostly good, bumpy in some places. Undulating, with one very steep hill.
1. Crowded at weekends.
2. Very fast descent on the above mentioned hill with long run out at bottom (Kingston Gate) to avoid going across any traffic at the roundabout.
Best to visit early morning at weekends (gets busy by 0900) or dusk. The Park gates close to cars at dusk, so park outside. Watch out for traffic, cyclists, runners, pedestrians, horses and deer.
Toilets by some gates, close at dusk.
A classic. It is recommended that due courtesy be given to horses and riders.
